"Great Taste" to feature Valhalla Shooting Club

Deerfield Beach, FL July 10, 2004 -- Platinum Television Group is pleased to announce the selection of Valhalla Shooting Club and Training Center in Montrose, CO, for its innovative, educational television series, Great Taste. The club will be featured in a segment on "Accents to Finer Living."

Valhalla Shooting Club is located on the grounds of the 275-acre, five-star rated Elk Mountain Resort, nestled in the Rocky Mountains near Telluride. Tom Forman, the owner and developer of the resort, built the facility to entertain the many members and guests who like to shoot. The Valhalla Shooting Club was originally designed as an entertainment amenity for the resort and has remained true to its purpose.

With three complete clay fields featuring trap, 5-stand and skeet (as well as flurries and a variety of other custom designed courses of fire) and the world's most unique indoor pistol shooting, there is something for all firearms enthusiasts, even those who have never held a gun. The indoor facility offers the use of a state-of-the-art automated range or a scenario house, with a two-story 360-degree live-fire choice of settings like a complete house, subway station, nightclub, and more. There are a variety of entertaining shooting activities and a full schedule of courses available year round.

"Learning to shoot effectively can be fun," according to director of operations Rob Pincus. The club offers a unique, comprehensive curriculum that includes everything from professionally supervised novice shooting to advanced reality-based training together under one roof.

Ret. Gen. Norman Schwartzkopf is an honored member, as well as many other celebrity and sports figures. The club is open to the public, although members and resort guests do get preference. Memberships are limited to 550 individuals and 50 corporate groups.

The pro shop at the club offers ammunition, holsters, eyewear and a variety of other shooting accessories for the guests. Valhalla also has an extensive collection of rental firearms available for use on the clay ranges or at the indoor pistol facility.

Valhalla draws its name from Norse mythology, meaning "the warrior's heaven." The story is told that warriors would train all day in actual combat, suffering wounds, only to be miraculously healed each evening to enjoy a wonderful feast. Thus, at the end of the day guests have the option to indulge in a five-star meal at the resort, in keeping with the mythological tradition.

The shooting club and training center at Elk Mountain Resort is adjacent to over 60,000 acres of national forest land and the resort features 21 luxury lodge rooms, 18 large cabins, a full service restaurant, two bars, meeting and banquet facilities, a wellness center, rock climbing monolith, wedding chapel, equestrian center, fitness track and many other amenities.
